Setting Community Access Strings
You may configure up to five community strings authorized for
management access. For security reasons, you should consider removing
the default strings.
Fields and Attributes
Community String – A community string acts as a password and
permits access to the SNMP protocol.
Access Mode
Read-OnlySpecifies read-only access. Authorized management
stations are only able to retrieve MIB objects.
Read/Write – Specifies read-write access. Authorized
management stations are able to both retrieve and modify MIB
objects.
Web Interface
Click SNMP. Enter a new string in the Community String box and select
the access rights from the Access Mode drop-down list, then click “Add.”
Command Line Interface
The following example adds the string “spiderman” with read/write
access.
