Gem Flushometer

The Gem Piston Flushometer has been offered by the Sloan Valve

Company since 1928. The Gem has been used throughout the World and

has a reputation for it’s World Class Quality and Affordability.

In 1985, Sloan redesigned the Gem to incorporate features that ensure

optimum valve performance and water conservation. The new Gem•2

included the non-adjustable and non-hold open handle features that Sloan

first introduced in the Royal Flushometer.

The Gem•2 also featured the

patented Filtered O-ring

Bypass. First introduced by

Sloan in 1981, the Filtered O-

ring Bypass protects the

metering bypass in the piston

from water bourn dirt and

debris. Compared to screen

filters, which can clog and are

difficult to clean, the Filtered

O-ring Bypass ensures

continued, uninterrupted

valve performance, even in dirty water conditions.

Most current Gem parts can be used with older Gem models. This

Maintenance Guide also identifies replacement parts and repair kits for the

pre-1985 adjustable Gem models.

Gem Pistons

The piston in the Gem flushometer

accurately controls the discharge

volume of the flush. Sloan offers a wide

range of pistons to meet the flushing

requirements of both older and new

design water closets and urinals.

Sloan uses a number of features to

visually differentiate the Pistons. This

includes the color and shape of the

piston body, the number of grooves on

the relief valve stem and, beginning in

2004, the color of the Piston cover.

The chart inside this Maintenance Guide

can be used to identify these features.

LIMITED WARRANTY

Sloan Valve Company warrants its Flushometer Products to be made of first

class materials, free from defects of material or workmanship under normal use

and to perform the service for which they are intended in a thoroughly reliable

and efficient manner when properly installed and serviced for a period of 3 years

(1 year for special finishes) from date of purchase. During this period, Sloan

Valve Company will, at its option, repair or replace any part or parts which prove

to be thus defective if returned to Sloan Valve Company, at customer’s cost, and

this shall be the sole remedy available under this warranty. No claims will be

allowed for labor, transportation or other incidental costs. This warranty extends

only to those persons or organizations who purchase Sloan Valve Company’s

products directly from Sloan Valve Company for purpose of resale.

THERE ARE NO WARRANTIES WHICH EXTEND BEYOND THE

DESCRIPTION ON THE FACE HEREOF. IN NO EVENT IS SLOAN VALVE

COMPANY RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES OF

ANY MEASURE WHATSOEVER.
