1. Purge the system if not already done.
2. Remove the brass cap from the compressor oil drain port located at the front center bottom of
the compressor then tilt the unit forward to drain the oil. CAUTION: Be careful not to
overbalance and drop the unit.
3. Connect a vacuum pump to the recovered oil drain port on the side of the machine and open
the valve
4. Connect a short hose to the compressor port, put 12 ounces of ESTER oil (S131EST) into a
container and submerge the loose hose end in the container of oil.
5. Turn the vacuum pump on and allow it to pull the oil into the compressor then turn it off.
6. Remove the short hose from the compressor oil port and replace the brass cap.
7. Go to When Maintenance Is Completed.
WHEN MAINTENANCE IS COMPLETED
1. Turn the vacuum pump on for twenty minutes to evacuate the air from the machine.
2. Close the recovered oil drain valve then turn the vacuum pump off and disconnect it from the
machine.
3. Open the Backseat Valve 1 full turn (clockwise), replace the valve shaft cover and the yellow
front cover.
YOU ARE NOW READY TO BEGIN NORMAL OPERATIONS
NOTE: You may check the compressor oil level at any time using the following steps.
1. Purge the system as described in the “Purge Procedure”.
2. Follow steps 1 & 2 in the “Compressor Oil Change Procedure”. If a tilt of more than 10
degrees is required to obtain oil flow from the compressor, complete the “Compressor Oil
Change and When Maintenance Is Completed Procedures”.
OTHER SERVICE PROCEDURES
COMPRESSOR OIL SEPARATOR
If the compressor oil separator capillary return line becomes plugged, the following steps must
be used.
1. Using another recovery machine, connect the inlet port to the NCG Bleed Valve of the
machine to be serviced, close the storage tank valves and open the NCG Bleed Valve.
2. Recover the refrigerant from the machine, close the NCG Bleed Valve and disconnect the
machines.
3. Disconnect the oil return capillary line by loosening the flare nut at the base of the
compressor oil separator.
4. Remove the obstruction from the capillary inside the flare fitting as necessary and reconnect
the flare nut.
5. Check the compressor oil level using the previously described procedure and proceed as
necessary.
