Jet Pump Water In take and
Impeller C leaning
WARNING
Keep away from intake grate while
engine is on. Items such as long
hair, loose clothing or personal
flotation dev ice straps can become
entangledinmovingpartsresult-
ing in severe injury or dr owning.
Weeds, s hells or debris can ge t caught
on the intake grate, drive shaft a nd/ or
impeller. A clogged water intake may
cause trou bles such as:
– Cavitation: Engine speed is high
but watercraft moves slowly du e to
reduced jet thrust, jet pump c om po-
nents may be dam a ged.
– Overheating: Since the jet pum p
operation controls the flow of wa-
ter to cool the exhaust system, a
clogged intake w il l c a us e the engine
to overheat an d dama ge engine in-
ternal components.
A weed clogged area ca n be cleaned a s
follows:

Rock the watercraft several times
while repeatedly press ing engine
start/stop button for short period with-
out sta rting engine. Most of the time,
this will remove the blockage. Start
engine a nd m a ke sure watercraft o per-
ates properly.
If system is still blocked, move the wa-
tercraft out of the w ater and remove
blockage manually.
If the afore m entioned method does
not work, the following can be per-
formed:
– With e ngine runni ng and before
applying throttle, put s hift lever in
reverse pos ition and vary throttle
quickly several times.
– Repeat procedure if necessary.
On-Beach Water Cleaning
WARNING
Always r emove the DESS k ey from
its pos t to prevent accidental en-
gine starting before cleaning the
jet pump area.
Place a cardboard or a carpet beside
the watercraft to prevent scratching
when turni ng the watercraft for c lean-
ing.
Rotate the watercraft to any side for
cleaning.

Clean the water intake area. I f the s ys-
tem is s till clogged, refer t o an autho-
rized Sea -Doo dealer for serv icing.
NO TICE
Inspect wa ter in take grate
for damage. Refer to an authorized
Sea-Doo dealer for repair as neces-
sary.
