Preparation
Before unloadi ng the watercraft from
the trailer, it can be started for about
10 seconds to verify proper operation.
WARNING
Certain components in the engine
compartment may be ver y ho t .
Direct contact may r esult in skin
burn. Do not touch electrical parts
or jet pump area when engine is
running.
Attach the safety lanyard to your PFD
and snap the DESS key t o its post be-
fore starting the engine.
NO TE: If you hear anything else tha n
2 short beeps from D ESS system , it
indicates a particular conditi on that
should be correc ted. Refer t o the
TROUBLESHOOTING
section for the
meaning of the coded s ignal.
WARNING
Before starting the engine, the op-
erator and passeng ers should al-
ways be properly se ated.
Position shift lever
to neutral.
Firmly grip handlebar with y our left
hand a nd place both f
eet on the foot-
boards.
NO TICE
Ensure there is at least
90 cm (3 ft) of water un der neath the
lowest rear portion of the hull when
all passengers are aboard prior to
starting the engine. Otherwise dam-
age to the impeller or other jet pump
components might occur. Do not
accelerate abruptly.
To s t a rt engine, depress and hold the
engine s ta rt/stop button. Follow pro-
cedure below for engine starting.
If engine fails to start after 10 sec onds ,
wait a few seconds then repeat proce-
dure.
NO TICE
Do not hold start/stop
button more than 30 seconds to
avoid starter o verheating. A rest p e-
riod should be observed between
the cranking cycles to l et star te r
cool down. Pay attention not to dis-
charge battery.
Release engine start/stop button im-
mediately after engine is sta rted.
Cold and Warm En gi ne
Do not depres s the thro ttle lever to
start either a c old or warm engine.
Riding
Slowly accelerat e to reach deepe r wa-
ter. Do not a pply full throttle until the
engine is warm.
