Next Generation Radio Product and Feature Guide
Feature Summary
Satellite Connectivity. The Vehicle Kit contains the magnetic satellite antenna for the
vehicle, and the Home Kit contains the indoor/outdoor home antenna for the home or office.
A good satellite signal will enable reception of the satellite channels, which is the default
listening mode for the Radio, but a satellite antenna/signal is not necessary in a home or office
installation where there is a good and stable Wi-Fi connection to the Internet.
Internet Connectivity. The Radio can be connected via a Wi-Fi connection to the Internet to
receive content offered by SiriusXM via Internet streaming. Additional content is available when
connected to the Internet: streaming IP channels, XTRA channels, listener created Pandora
Artist Stations, and On-Demand content. Content that is available on both satellite and Internet
is received via satellite when a satellite signal is present, but may switch to Internet streaming
when there is no satellite signal. In a vehicle, an internet connection is established by tethering
the Radio via a Wi-Fi connection to a mobile hotspot that has a cellular data plan. Examples
of hotspot capable devices are iOS and Android smartphones and tablets, and stand-alone
mobile hotspots such as Verizon MiFi/Jetpack, etc. In a home or office, an Internet connection
is established by connecting the Radio to a Wi-Fi router that has an internet connection.
Loss of Satellite Signal or Loss of Internet Connection Fall-over. For channels which are
available on both satellite and Internet, by default the Radio will use the satellite connection, if
present. If the satellite signal or Internet connection is lost while listening, the Radio will display
a button on the Now Playing screen, “Switch to Internet” or “Switch to Satellite” to continue
listening to the channel, if the alternate is available.
