B. Connecting the Foot Controller and Power Cord Before plugging in your machine, make sure that the voltage is the same as the indication on the nomenclature plate on the lower back side of the machine. (l)Take out the foot controller from the bag and insert the con troller plug into the receptacle on the back side of the machine. (Fig. 8) (2)Plug the machine cord into your power supply outlet. (3)Switch on the power to set the machine on and to turn on the sewing light.
C. Fabric, Thread and Needle Table It has been found over the years that the ever increasing number of so-called tension problems are, in fact, simply caused by the wrong cornbination of needle and thread. V PLEASE READ THE CHART listed below which shows the correct needle and thread combination for the particular material to be used.
D. Changing the Needle If you prefer to change needles, or if the needle in use is bent, blunt or otherwise defective, change the needle as follows. (Fig. 11) (1)With the needle in the highest position, loosen the needle clamp screw. (Fig. 12) (2)Take out changed. the needle to be (3)With the flat side away from you, insert a new needle as far as it will go. (4)Tighten the needle clamp screw firmly. (Fig.
E. Winding the Bobbin (I )Push in the hand wheel in the arrow direction (Fig. 14). (The needle won’t work while the hand wheel is pushed in.) Take a bobbin out of the acces sories and put it onto the spin dle. (2)Pull out the spool pin on the top of the machine and place a spool of thread on the spool pin. Lead the thread from the spool pin through the thread guide to the bobbin. Wind the thread around it (counterclockwise) sev eral times. (Fig.
F. Removing the Bobbin Case (1)Raise the needle to its highesi position by turning the hanc wheel towards you. t ;j (2)Open the shuttle cover and take out the bobbin case, holding the hinged latch ®of the bobbin case with your thumb and index fin ger. I. Threading the Upper Thread See the illustration on the ex tension table fold-down cover. Lift the presser foot lifter, and make sure the take-up lever is at its highest position by turning the hand wheel towards you. Lead the thread through the guides in the 3(shown numbered order(IJ— on the parts for threading) and ®. (Fig. 21—(1)) — (1 )Lead the thread from the spool pin and hook it to the guide (ID. I (2)Draw the thread between the two ® then to the the thread should left (Fig.
J. Drawing up the Lower Thread Gently pull the end of the upper thread by hand and turn the hand wheel slowly towards you until the bobbin thread gradually comes out. NEVER PULL THE THREAD TOO HARD AS IT MAY CAUSE THE NEEDLE TO BEND. Pull both thread ends out about 15 cm and place them either to the left or right of the presser foot as shown in Fig. 24. 4.
ADJUSTING THREAD TENSIONS The balance of tension between the upper thread and the bobbin thread is most important for a good sewing performance with neat stitching. S. Correct Tension The tension on- the upper thread and bobbin thread should be equal. If the tensions are balanced, you will obtain a perfectly locked stitch with both threads drawn equally into the fabric, as shown in Fig. .28.
