TheSimradMS70comprisesthreePowerSupplyUnits.EachunitprovidesACandDC
powertooneofthethreetransceiverracksinthetransceiver.Externalanaloguepower
supplieshavebeenchosentoensureminimumelectricnoise.
InordertoreducethevoltagedropinthepowercablesbetweeneachPowerSupplyUnit
andtheTransceiverUnit,thesecablesmustbekeptasshortaspossible.Thecablesmust
alsoberuninsteelconduitstominimizeelectricnoise.

Thematchingtransformerforeachtransducer
elementislocatedinthetransducer,thisallowsalow
impedanceconnectiontotheTransceiverUnit.The
arrayisconnectedtotherearsideofthethreeTRXU

InordertoensurecontinuousoperationoftheSimrad
MS70independentofvaryingqualityofthevessel’s
mainssupply,theuseofuninterruptedpowersupplies
(UPS)isimportant.
