TheSimradSX90isalongrangeomnidirectionallowfrequency

sonar.Itisdesignedformediumandlargesizedshing

vessels,preferablyforpurseseiners,butitisalsowellsuitable

fortrawlers.Thesonarallowsyoutochooseanoperational

frequencybetween20to30kHz(in1kHzsteps).Thecylindrical

multi-elementtransducerallowstheomnidirectionalsonarbeam

tobetiltedelectronicallyfrom+10to–60degrees.Thisallows

youtoautomaticallytrackschoolsofsh,andtoobservethe

wholewatervolumearoundthevessel.Astabilisingsystemis

includedforelectronicpitchandrollcompensation.

Greatemphasishasbeenplacedongivingthebestpossible

presentationsonahighresolutioncolourdisplay.TheProcessor

UnitiscontrolledbyMicrosoft’sWindowsXP®operating

system,whichresultinaexiblechoiceofdisplaymodesfora

largerangeofuserapplications.

Thesignalprocessingandbeamformingisperformedinafast

digitalsignalprocessingsystemusingthefulldynamicrange

ofthesignals.Inadditiontothetraditionalsinglefrequency

transceiversystem,theSimradSX90containsanadvanced

frequencymodulatedltersystem(FM).
