1.6 General safety rules
The SP90 sonar system operates on 230 Vac, 50/60 Hz.
Warning: This voltage can be lethal.
The following safety precautions must be followed at all times
during installation and maintenance work:
1 Always switch off all power before installation or
maintenance. Use the main circuit breaker, and label the
breaker with a warning sign that informs others that
maintenance or installation work is being carried out on
the sonar system.
2 Do not open cabinet doors while in rough seas. Doors may
swing open suddenly and cause damage or injury.
3 For safety reasons during troubleshooting on the
equipment with power ON, two persons must always be
present.
4 Read and understand the first aid instructions for electric
shock.
5 Whenever maintenance is carried out, it is essential that a
first aid kit is available, and that the maintenance
personnel are familiar with the first aid instructions for
electrical shock.
6 The various parts of the system are heavy. Make sure that
the appropriate tools and certified lifting equipment are
available, and that the personnel are trained in installation
and maintenance work.
7 Verify that the remote/local switch for the hull unit
operation is set to the Local position before starting any
maintenance work on the Hull Unit.
