canbecomparedwithfoldinganumbrella,which
meansthatallbeamsin360degreesaroundthevessel
havethesametiltangle.
Thebeamcanbetiltedfrom+10upto-60degrees
down.
Verticalslicepresentation
Inadditiontoseeingthetargetfromabove,itisalso
possibletoseethetargetfromtheside,byusingthe
verticalslicepresentation.Inthiscasethebeamcovers
acontinuousverticalbeamfrom0to-60degreesin
onetransmission.
Thisverticalslice,whichispresentedbythewhite
bearingline(alsofrequentlyreferredtoasthe“audio
line”)inthehorizontalpicture,canbeselectedtoany
bearingbythemanualtrainingcontrol.
InadditiontotheOmnipicture,theverticalsliceisespeciallyusefulforvisualizingthe
verticaldistributionofaschoolofsh.Inthatway,itisnotnecessarytogooverthe
targettoseethedistributionontheechosounder,whichoftenresultsinaspreading
oftheschool.
