Cavitation
Asthepropellerbladesmovethroughthewater,lowpressureareasareformedasthe
wateracceleratesaroundandmovespasttheblades.Thefasterthebladesmove,the
lowerthepressurearounditwillbecome.Asitreachesvapourpressure,thewater
vaporizesandformssmallbubblesofgas.Thisiscavitation.

Whenthebubblescollapse,theycauseverystronglocalshock-wavesinthewater.
Thesemaybeaudibleandcanalsodamagethepropellerblades.Inadditiontothis,the
cavitationwillgenerateverystrongreverberation,commonlyseenasaredstripeof
echoesbehindthevessel.
Ifyouhavebigproblemswithcavitation,trytoadjustthepropellerpitchand/orthe
numberofrevolutions.
Reverberation

notonlybyshandobjectsinthewater,butalsofromthebottomandtheseasurface.
