AboutGain
Youcanadjustthegaininmanydifferentways,butthemost
importantisthesettingmadebytheGainbuttonsonthe
OperatingPanelandontheHorizontalandVerticalmenus.
Ifyouhavetoomuchgain,youwillseeasonarpicturewithtoo
manyechoes.Thisisbecausethelargeamplicationpresentsall
kindofnoiseandreverberationthatthesonarpicksup.Ifthe
gainissmallerthenoiseandreverberationwilldisappear,butifit
thegainistoosmalltheshechoesmaydisappearaswell.In
mostcasesyoushouldtrywithamediumvalue.
Onthissonar,youcanadjustthehorizontalandverticalgain
independentofeachother.Thehorizontalgainisusedwhenthe
sonaroperatesinahorizontalmode,forexampleBowuporTrue
motion.Ifyouswitchtoamodewithaverticalview,forexample
Truemotion/Vertical,yoursonarwillneedadifferentgainsetting
forthebeamsdirectedtowardsthebottom.
