4.4 Mechanical support
To ensure the safety of the sonar system and the vessel, it is very
important that the mechanical support o f the hull unit gantry is
satisfactory.
The Hull Unit is designed to be operated in its lower position while
the vessel maintains a speed not to exceed 20 knots. To prevent
unwanted vortex induced vibration, the Hull Unit must be secured
to the bulkhead. Use the two thread holes on the gantry to attach
stays both in the fore-and-aft and side ways direction. It should be
possible to remove these stays in case the need for service arises.
