1 INTRODUCTION
Alloperationofthesonarismadefrom theSonarControlUnit.
This section contains a detailed description of the different
modes of operation. The man--machine interface, the normal
start/stop procedure and the menu operation is described in
section Operation. In order to get the necessary
understanding of the sonar working principle, read first
through section System familiarization.
Note that the SD 570 transducer in its lower position reaches
1.0 meter below the hull, and that the maximumspeed in that
position is 15 knots.
To ensure the best possible reliability of the sonar, it is
important to follow the maintenance procedure described in
section Maintenance.
Caution ! Whenever docking the vessel, the switch S101 at the rear of the
Sonar Control Unit should be switched to OFF position to
prevent inadvertent use of thesonar. For location of the switch,
see figure 1 in the section "Maintenance".
Caution ! The transducer might be damaged if transmitting in air.
Caution ! When docking, also refer to chapter 4.2 in the same section.
