the ships hull at a maximum ships speed of 15 knots. The
transducer can also be loweredto a middleposition whereonly
the transducer face is outside the sonar trunk.
In addition to the solid construction of the hoisting/lowering
mechanism, the SD 570 Hull Unit comprises the following
main components:
· Raising/lowering motor
· Motor control unit
· Multi--element transducer
ThemotorontheHullUnitisathree--phasemotor,andituses
less than 25 seconds for raising and lowering the transducer.
Note, that in case of voltage failure, the Hull Unit can be
manually raised or lowered by a hand crank.
The motor control unit which is mounted on the HullUnit,
contains the control electronics for the raising/lowering motor.
The optionalsensor fortheelectronicstabilization of the sonar
beams is also housed in the motor control unit.
The transducer has a diameter of 20 cm, and contains 256
separate transducer elements. This provides unlimited
electronic control of the sonar beams in any direction around
and below the vessel.
WARNING ! If the transducer hits larger objects or bottom, thetransducer
shaft may be bent, or in worst case it can be broken off. A
broken transducer shaft will cause water leakage in the top of
theshaft.Topreventlargerleakagesinsuchacase,donotraise
the transducer shaft to the upper position. To prevent serious
damages it is therefore of great importance to have a good
pump and warning system in the sonar room.
