Hullunitlubrication
Thehullunitisfullylubricatedwhenitisinstalledonthevessel.
Duringnormalconditions,thelubricantsappliedwilllastfora
longperiodoftime.Additionallubricationofthehullunitmust
onlytakeplacewhenitisrequired.

Observethefollowingprocedure.Thenumbersrefertothe
lubricationpointsontheillustration.
APressurereleaseplug(greasenippleonrearside)
BAirbleedingplug
1Inspecttheballbearingsonthetopofthehoist/lower
screw(1).Greaseonlyifrequiredusingnormalball
bearinggrease.
2Inspectthehoistingspindle(2).Lubricateonlyif
requiredusingTonnaSlidewayOilsS68orsimilar
gradelubricant.Iftoomuchlubricantisappliedtothe
hoistingspindle,youmayexperiencealotofspillage
whenitrotatesinhighspeed.
3Toppinguptheshaftsleevethroughthegreasenipple
isonlyrequirediftheshaftisdryfromlubrication,or
ifwatertendstoforceitswayupalongtheshaft.
Ifyoudetectawaterleakage,orifthetransducershaft
isdry,youmayaddextragrease.
•Openthepressurereleaseplug(A).
•Addextragreaseintotheshaftsleevethroughthe
greasenipple

o n o t addexcessiveamountsofgrease.Thetotal
capacityoftheshaftsleeveislessthanfourkilos.
Useoneofthesegreasetypes,oranequivalenttype
withsimilarcharacteristics:
–EssoCazarK1
–ShellRhodinaEP2
–ShellAlvinaEP2
WARNING
Whenyoutopuptheshaftsleevewithoil,you
mustopenthepressurereleaseplugtoavoid
damagetotheshaftbearings.
