Onthissonar,youcanadjustthehorizontalandverticalgain
independentofeachother.Thehorizontalgainisusedwhenthe
sonaroperatesinahorizontalmode,forexampleBowuporTrue
motion.Ifyouswitchtoamodewithaverticalview,forexample
Truemotion/Vertical,yoursonarwillneedadifferentgainsetting
forthebeamsdirectedtowardsthebottom.

WhatisRCG?
RCGmeansReverberationControlledGain.Thisisa
two-dimensionallteringofthereceivedechoesinorderto
suppressunwantedsurfaceandbottomreverberation.
IfyouselectStrong,thebottomechoeswilldisappearaltogether
ifthebottomisat,whileschoolsofshclosetothebottom
willbeeasiertosee.
NotethatscatteredshmaybemoredifculttospotiftheRCG
functionisactive,asthesecanbemisinterpretedasreverberation.
ItisthereforeimportantthatyouusetheRCGwithgreatcareif
youraresearchingforscatteredsh.
Abouttilt
Thesonarbeamcanbetiltedverticallyinstepsof1degree,and
thechosentiltisshownonthesonarpicture.At0degreestilt
youwilltransmitthesonarbeaminparallelwiththeseasurface,
while60degreestiltwilldirectitalmoststraightdown.
