Howtocalibratethedepthsensors
Onlydepthsensorscanbecalibrated.Thepurposeistomakesurethatthedepthreported
bythesensorisasaccurateaspossible.Thisprocedureiscarriedoutonboardthevessel.
Note
Inordertocalibratethesensor,itmustbesubmergedinsaltwater .
Thesoftwareprovidedforcalibrationassumesthatthesensorisloweredto1meterdeep.
Ifyouneedtoloweritevendeeper,youwillneedtoaddthisadditionaldepthtothe
OffsetvaluewhenyouselectandsetupthesensorintheSelectSensorsdialog.
Example:Ifyouloweryoursensorto5metersdepthforcalibration,youmustenter
4(meters)intotheOffsetforthesensor.
1Mountaropetothetopfasteninglugsonthesensor.
2Tightentherope,andmeasureonemeterfromthebottomofthesensortoaspoton
therope.Placeavisualmarkerontheropeatthatlocation.
3Lowerthesensoroverthesideofthevesselandintothewater.Lowerituntilthe
visualmarkerontheropeisevenwiththesurface.
Youmaywishtouseadifferentdepthreferencethantheseasurface.Ifthisisthe
case,changethemarkingontheropetotyoupreference,forexamplethedepthof
thekeelorthedepthofanechosoundertransducer.
Itisalsopossibletoattachthesensor1meterunderaoatingdevice.Testthis
arrangementbeforeyouuse,andmakesurethatthepressuresensoronthedepth
sensorislocated1meterbelowtheseasurfacewhenloweredintothewater.
4Observethenumericalpresentationofthesensordepth,andallowthereadingto
stabilizeitself.
5ObservetheMainmenu.ItisnormallylocatedontherighthandsideofthePI50
presentation.
