PISpreadsensorview
ThepurposeoftheSimradPISpreadsensorsystemistomeasurethedistancebetween
thetwotrawldoors.ThePISpreadsensorwillalwaysrequireaPIRemotesensoron
theotherdoortocarryoutthismeasurement.ThePISpreadsensorsystemhasbeen
developedtobeusedonbothbottomandpelagictrawls.
UseaPISpreadsensorontheportdoorandaPIRemotesensoronthestarboarddoor.
Thetwosensorscommunicateusingaspecialtransverseacousticlink.
UsingthislinkthePISpreadsensormeasurestheexactdistancebetweenthetwo
sensors.
TwoSpreadversionsareavailable.Thesearesetupforstandardorextended(XT)spread
range.ThiscongurationcanbechangedinthePIConguratorutility.

BCurrentspread:Thisthecurrentdistancebetweenthetrawldoorsasmeasuredby
thesensor.Thecurrentmeasurementunitisshown,aswellastwobluearrowheads.
Thearrowheadsindicatethecurrentchangesinthe
spreaddistance;increasingordecreasing.Inthis
examplethespreaddistanceisslowlydecreasingwith
2metersperminute.Ifthetwoarrowheadsarepointingt
o w a r d s eachother,the
spreaddistanceisdecreasing.Iftheyarepointingawayf
r o m eachother,thespread
distanceisincreasing.
CSpreadchanges:Thisdigitshowsthespreaddistancechangesrecordedbythe
sensor,andthustheincreasingordecreasingdistancebetweenthetwotrawldoors.
Thevalueisshowninunitsperminute.Thedirectionisshownwiththeblue
triangles.Ifthesensordoesnotdetectanyspreadchanges,thearrowsareremoved.
