Installation Manual

Note ! Whenever SimNet products are connected to a NMEA2000
network, the NMEA2000 specified cable system shall be used
and the NMEA2000 installation guidelines must be followed.
Connection of NMEA2000 products to
SimNet
The physical layer (backbone cabling) of SimNet is different
from that of NMEA2000. Whilst NMEA2000 only permits drop
cabling, SimNet also offers daisy chaining of products which
significantly simplifies the installation and save costs on both
labour and materials. Other manufacturer's products may be
connected to a SimNet network provided they are SimNet
compatible. To be SimNet compatible the NMEA2000
product(s) must:
Be NMEA2000 Certified
Meet the CE, FCC regulations with a SimNet adaptor cable
connected.
Not exceed the SimNet load specifications (page 15)
Recommended load is 3NLs
Absolute maximum load is 10NLs (= 0.5Amps)
This is to ensure a trouble free performance of a large SimNet
network during setup and operation, and when new products are
added at a later stage.
Note ! Simrad can take no responsibility if problems occur on SimNet
due to a NMEA2000 product that has been connected.
