Choosingpassivemodeofoperation

InordertocheckhowmuchnoisetheES70isreceiving,setittopassivemode.This

meansthattheES70isnottransmittingsoundpulsesintothewater,itisonly“listening”.

2ClickNormalOperationtoopentheNormalOperationdialog.

ThepurposeoftheNormalOperationdialogistoofferyouanoverviewofthe

currenttransceiverparameters,andtoprovideyouwiththeabilitytochangethem.

3Fortherelevanttransducerchannel,setModetoPassive.

4ClickOKtosavethecurrentsettingsandclosethedialog.

Changingtheoutputpower

Fromtimetotimeitmaybeusefultoreducetheoutputpower.Areducedpower

outputmayprovebenecialifyouarelookingforsingleshesorschoolsnearthe

surface,ifyouworkinveryshallowwaters,ifyouarebotheredwithfalseechoesdueto

reverberation,orifyousimplyfeelthattheechoesaretoostrong.

Note

Ifyouincreasetheoutputpower,makesurethatyoudonotchoosemorepowerthanyour

transducercanhandle.Withacorrectsetupwiththetransducerregisteredintheecho

soundersoftwareyouaresafeguardedagainstthis.However ,ifyouuseathirdparty

transducerthatisnotknownbytheechosoundersoftware,youmayinictpermanent

damageifyouincreasetheoutputtobeyondthetransducer'scapabilities.
