TheTVGfunctionisactivatedbyclickingtheTVGbuttonontheActivemenu.
Purpose
ThepurposeoftheTVGbuttonistoallowyoumodifythereceptionparametersby
changingtheTimeVariedGain(TVG)curveforthereceivedechoes.
Description
TheselectionmadeusingtheTVGbuttonisthesame
asontheEchogramtabintheEchogramdialog.
TheTVGfunctionisdescribedinmoredetailinthe
echosoundertheorychapter.
Parameters

ThefollowingTVGsettingsareavailable:
aPower(NoTVG)
TVGgainisnotimplemented.Thissettingishardlyeverused.
bSchool(20logTVG)
Thisgainsettingoffersweakeramplicationclosetothebottom.Ithasbeen
designedtoprovidethebestechoesforschools.Thephysicalsizeofaschool
allowsyoutodetectitevenwithreducedgain.
cFish(40logTVG)
Thisgainsettingprovideslargeramplicationclosetothebottom.Ithasbeen
designedtoprovidethebestechoesfromsinglesh.
dTargets(40logTVG)
Basically,thissettingusesthesameTVGamplicationasFish,butadditional
lteringandcompensationisimplemented.Onlyechoesdetectedand
interpretedassingleshareshown.Theechoesarecompensatedfortheir
physicalpositioninthebeam(beamcompensation).Thismeansthatshin
theouterregionofthebeamareadjustedtocorrectsizeeventhoughtheir
echoesareweaker.
NotethatthisTargets(40logTVG)settingisonlyfunctionalwithsplitbeam
transducers.
