ItispossibletoupdatethesoftwareintheGeneralPurposeTransceiver(GPT).
ThisupdateisonlynecessaryifnewfunctionalityintheES70softwarerequires
anewersoftwareversion.Thesoftwarereleasenoteprovidedwilltheninclude
thenecessaryinstructions.Transceiversoftwareupdatecanalsobeusefulifyou
haveanoldunit.
Ifthesoftwareversiononyourtransceiverisnewer
than020302(2March2002)
youwillonlyneedtoupdatethesoftwareifinstructedbythesoftwarereleasenote
todoso.
Duringnormaluseyouwillthereforenotberequiredtoupdatethetransceiver
software.
Thesoftwareupdateisaneasyandautomatedtask,butyoumustonlydothiswhen
youreallyneedto.Duetothespecialnatureofthecommunicationbetweenthe
computerandthetransceiver,theinterfacecircuitryinthetransceiverissubjectedto
heavystrainwhenthesoftwareupdateismade.Unfortunately,wehaveseenthat
theelectroniccircuitryonsomerareoccasionshavefailed.Sincetherelevantcircuit
boardmustbereturnedtoSimradforreprogramming,westronglyadviseyounotto
dothisupdateyourself,butleavethistasktoyourdealer.

transceiver.

Thisinformationreectsthetypeoftransceiverconnected,andthetransceiver’s
uniqueEthernetaddress.
GPTmeansGeneralPurposeTransceiver.

Thisinformationincludestheuniqueversionparametersprovidedbythetransceiver.
Codesidentifyingfrequency,serialnumberandrmwareareprovided.
5SWVersion
Thisisthesoftwareversioncurrentlyrunningonthetransceiver.
6IPAddress
Thisisthetransceiver’scurrentIPaddress.
Note
Ifyouusemorethanonetransceiverwiththesamefrequency,youmustsetupthese
transceiverstoprovidedifferentIPaddresses.
7ConnectedIPAddress
ThisistheIPaddressofthecomputer’sEthernetboardthatisusedtocommunicate
withthetransceiver(s).
