1SerialPorts
Thislistdisplaystheavailableserialportsonthecomputer.
ThelistisautomaticallypopulatedthersttimetheI/OSetupdialogisopenedafter
aES70softwareinstallation,andwillthenreecttheinitialnumberofserialports
availableonthecomputer.Ifyoulateraddinterfacehardwaretoyourcomputer,you
mustclicktheAddbuttontoaddthenewportstothelist.
2Name
Thisisthegivenidentityoftheserialport.Bydefault,theserialportsarenumbered.
3Resource
ThisisthecommunicationportontheES70computer.Thesearenormallynamed
COM1,COM2etc.
4Baudrate
Thiscellshowsthecurrentbaudratespeciedfortheserialline.Standardbaudrate
denedforNMEAcommunicationis4800baud.
5Protocol
Thisisthecurrentprotocolspeciedfortheserialline.
Eachseriallinecanreceivemultipletelegramssimultaneously,providedthatthe
telegramsallusethesameprotocol.
However,onlyoneperipheraldevicemaybephysicallyconnectedtotheport.If
youwishtoconnectseveralperipheraldevicestoasingleserialport,youmust
routethesethrougha“mixer”.Thiscanbeahardwareunitorcomputercollecting
andstreamingthetelegrams.

Thiscolumnisusedtoidentifytheexternalsensor(measuringdevice)currently
connectedtotheport.

Thiscolumnisusedtoidentifythedatathatareexportedontheport.

Clickthisbuttontoaddanewserialport.
Thisisrequiredifyouhaveaddednewhardwaretothecomputer,forexampleby
installinganextrainterfacecircuitboard.Ifyouhavepreviouslyreleasedanunused
serialport,butwishtobringitbacktoES70use,youmustalsoclickthisbutton.
Thebuttonisdisabledifthecomputerhasnomoreserialcommunicationportsto
offer.Ifportsareavailable,asmalldialogisopenedtochooseport.
