Description
Inordertoobtainaccuratedepthreadingsand
shechoes,itisveryimportantthatthesound
speedthroughthewaterissetcorrectly.In
theEnvironmentdialog,youmustdeneif
youworkinsaltorfreshwater.
TheMeanWaterColumnT emperatureeld
allowsyoutoenteratemperature.The
informationisusedtocalculatetheabsorption.
Oncethesalinityandtemperatureinformation
isprovided,theES70willcalculatethesound
speed.
Parameters
1Salinity
Clicktoselectfreshorsaltwater.
2SoundSpeed
OncethesalinityandtheMeanWater
ColumnTemperaturehasbeenprovided,
theES70willcalculatethesoundspeed.Ifrequired,youcanmodifythevalue
usingthespinbox.
3MeanWaterColumnTemperature
Enterthetemperatureifthisisknowntoyou.Tondthistemperature,youwillneed
adedicatedinstrument.WhenthistemperatureisknowntotheES70itwillbeused
tocalculatetheabsorption,andtheechograminformationwillbemoreaccurate.
4Temperature
Usetheseparameterstodenewhichinstrumentthatprovidestemperature
information.
Thetemperatureinformationisonlypresentedinthisdialog,itisnotputtouseby
theES70software.ItisalsoshownintheTitlebar,providedthatthisfeaturehas
beenenabledintheDisplayOptionsdialog.
aSourceSelection
Selectwhichinstrumenttoprovidethetemperature.
SeveralES70transducerprovidethermistorstomeasurethewatertemperature.
ThisthermistorcanbeconnectedtotheauxiliaryplugontheGeneralPurpose
Transceiver(GPT).
bValue
Thistexteldoffersthecurrenttemperaturereadingprovidedbytheexternal
sensor.Eachtemperaturereadingistimetagged.Theinformationisonly
presentedinthisdialog,itisnotputtousebytheES70software.
