Description
Therangesettingdeneshow“deep”youwishthe
ES70todetectechoes,thatistheverticaldistance
betweenthe“top”andthe“bottom”oftheechogram.
TheRangesettingspeciesthis“bottom”depth,while
theStartRangesettingspeciesthe“top”depth.
Therangeyouspecifyappliestothecurrentlyselected
echogram(identiedwithathickborder).Severalechogramtypesareavailable,these
areselectedintheEchogramdialog.
Ifyouwishtoapplythenewrangesettingtoallcurrentechogramsofthesametype,
clicktoselectApplytoall.
Parameters
1Auto
ThisselectionallowstheES70toautomaticallyadjusttherangeaccordingtothe
detectdepth.
2Range
Thisparametercontrolsthedisplayeddepthrangeintheechogramview.
Thestartdepthfortheverticalrangeshownonthedisplaywillalwaysbethevalue
denedbytheStartRangedepthparameter.Theechogramtypeisselectedinthe
Echogramdialog.

Inasurfaceechogram,settheStartRangevalueto0meters.Thiswillmake
theechogramstartfromtheseasurface(providedthatthetransduceroffsethas
beendened).SetRangetothecurrentdepthplus20meters.Theechogram
willnowshowtheareafromtheseasurfaceanddownto20meters“below”
thebottom.Thebottomcontouriseasilydetectedwhenthedepthchanges.

Inabottomechogram,settheStartRangevalueto–5meters.Thiswillmake
theechogramstartfrom5metersabovethebottom.SetRangetothe5meters
plus10=15meters.Theechogramwillnowshowtheareafrom5meters
abovethedepth,anddownto10meters“below”thebottom.Thebottom
contourwillappearasaatline.
