Purpose
Thepurposeofthismanualistoprovidetheinformationandbasicdrawingsrequired
forinstallationoftheAPC12ProcessorUnitasusedwiththeSimradEK60scientic
echosounder.
Formoredetailedinformationaboutthepracticaluseoftheproduct,refertotheSimrad
EK60InstructionmanualandtheSimradEK60Referencemanual.
Aboutthetechnicaldescriptionsandthetargetaudience
Themanualisintendedfortechnicalpersonnel;qualiedmaintenanceengineersand
technicians.Itisassumedthatthepersonnelisconversantwiththegeneralprinciplesof
maritimeelectronicequipment,inparticularsonar,echosounderandcatchmonitoring
systems.Thepersonnelmustalsobefamiliarwithcomputerhardware,signalprocessing,
interfacetechnologyandtraditionaltroubleshootingonelectronicandmechanical
products.
Theinstructionsmustbefollowedcarefullytoensureoptimalperformance.Asaguide,
installationproceduresarepresentedintheordertheyaretobeperformed.

cabinets,butnotsystemunitsprovidedlocallybythecustomer,installationshipyard
orlocaldealer.Themanualalsodenestheequipmentresponsibility,andprovides
instructionsforunpackingandstorage.
Afterinstallation,thisdocumentmustbestoredonboardthevesselforlaterreference
whenupdatingorservicingtheequipment.

Detailedvesselspecicmechanicaldrawingsfortheinstallationmustbeprovidedbythe
customer,oranyshipyardcontractedtoperformtheinstallation.
