Whyusesteelconduitswithatowedbody?

Itisstronglyrecommendedtolayasteelconduitfromthe

connectionpointofthetowcabletotheechosoundertransceiver,

andtopullthetransducercablethroughthisconduit.Thereare

severalreasonsforthis.

•Itwillmakeiteasieratalaterstagetoreplacethecable.

•Noiseandinterferencefromotherelectricalequipmentis

greatlyreduced.

WithasteelconduittheinstallationwillsatisfytheEU

regulationsforEMCinterference.Withoutasteelconduit,there

isariskofreducedechosounderperformance.

Steelconduitsqualitiesandshielding

Thesteelconduitmustbeunbrokenandwatertightfromthe

transducertoabovethewaterline.Fromthere,thecablecan

bepulledfurther,orajunctionboxcanbeinstalledtofacilitate

furtherconnections.Notethatthesteelconduitmustactas

acontinuouselectricalscreenalltheway.Toensureproper

shielding,theconduitmustbeelectricallyconnectedtotheecho

soundertransceiverchassis.

•minimum35mminnerdiameter

•minimum6mmwallthickness(4.5mmifgalvanised)

Morethatonetransducercable?

Iftwoormoretransducersareinstalledclosetoeachotheritis

possibletopulltheircablesinthesamesteelconduit,provided

theconduitdiameterisincreasedaccordingly.However,foreasy

replacementitisrecommendedthateachtransducerhasitsown

steelconduit.
