CONFIGURATION
The Configuration functions of the EQ 55 allows you to adapt the system more
specifically to your needs. You may set Units of measure (feet, fathoms, meters,
etc.), Background Color, Menu Languages, Scroll Speed, etc.
DEFAULT
Default selection in the Load Settings Menu allows you to configure all the
settings of the EQ-55 to "typical" values.
DISPLAY MODE
Display Mode means the format which is used to present the targets on the
display screen. You can select one of several Display Modes, tailoring the
EQ 55 picture to your needs.
EXP
Expand, or expansion. This function allows you to take a closer look at a particular
section of the water underneath your boat, and could also be thought of as a
"zoom" function. You can Expand the view near the bottom (Bottom Exp) or near
the Variable Range Marker (VRM Exp). Using the Expansion Range (Exp Range)
allows you to control the amount of expansion.

EXT I/F
External Interface. This sub-menu allows you to control the printer, NMEA, speed
and temperature interfaces.

GAIN
Gain is another way of saying "sensitivity", or possibly "volume". Increasing the
gain setting of the EQ 55 will allow you to see smaller and deeper targets. If the
gain is set too high, however, you will begin to see "noise" and unwanted targets.
Generally speaking, you want to set the gain control just below the point that you
begin to see speckles of "noise" on the screen.
