4.4 DISPLAY UNIT INSTALLATION
The display unit is designed to function normally on a continuous basis in the high
humidity of a marine environment. However, to ensure the long term
performance and reliability of the display unit, it should be installed in a dry, well
ventilated location. Avoid installation in areas where heavy shocks or vibrations
are expected or where the unit will be exposed to high temperatures.
Using the mounting bracket the EQ 55 Display Unit may be "table top" mounted
(see Figure 4.14) or the EQ 55 may be mounted to the ceiling
The EQ 55 may also be recess mounted into a control console and rack mounted.
Be sure that there is no tension applied to the cabling when the installation is
complete.
Choose a mounting surface that is strong enough to support the cabinet weight (60
pounds/27 kg) under extreme operating conditions. Reinforce the mounting
surface if necessary.
Provide sufficient clearance around the cabinet to allow free circulation of air and
to gain access to the connectors and fuse. Do not block the sides, bottom or rear
panel of the cabinet or overheating will occur.
The display unit can be mounted on a table top, bulkhead or over head by using
the supplied mounting bracket. See mounting hole pattern drawing, Figure 4.15.
WARNING: CHANGES OR MODIFICATIONS NOT EXPRESSLY
APPROVED BY SIMRAD MESOTECH LTD MAY VOID YOUR WARRANTY
AND MAY CAUSE INCREASED RADIO FREQUENCY EMISSIONS. THE
EQ 55 IS A SOPHISTICATED PIECE OF ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT,
DESIGNED AND CONSTRUCTED IN ACCORDANCE WITH GOOD
ENGINEERING PRACTICES. IT SHOULD BE REALIZED, HOWEVER,
THAT THE POSSIBILITY OF INTERFERENCE WITH OTHER
EQUIPMENT, PARTICULARLY COMMUNICATIONS EQUIPMENT,
EXISTS. CAREFUL ATTENTION TO CABLING, ADEQUATE
SEPARATION AND SHIELDING IS REQUIRED DURING AND AFTER
INSTALLATION TO ENSURE BEST RESULTS.
