Howtosetupthesonarsysteminterface

asonarsystem.Youcanonlyusetheseriallinesalreadysetuptoacceptinputfrom
otherperipherals.
Notethatthedepthinformationisnormallyalsoprovidedontheduplexinterfacesto
trawlinstrumentationandcatchmonitoringsystems.
Wiringprocedure
1LocatetheRS-232serialportthatcanbeusedtoconnectthesonarsystem.
2OntheES70computer,connectthetransmitsignalTxonpin3,andgroundonpin5.
3Sonar:
•InterfaceUnit:UseoneoftheseriallineconnectorsTB1throughTB7.Connect
thetransmittedsignalTxfromES70topin1,andgroundonpin5.
•ProcessorUnit:ConnectthetransmittedsignalTxfromES70topin2,and
groundonpin5.
4Ensurethatthelengthofthecabledoesnotexceedapproximately50meters.Ifa
longercableisrequired,youmayneedtousebufferampliersontheserialline.
Setupprocedure
1ClicktheSetupiconundertheMainmenutoopentheSetupsub-menu.
2ClickDepthOutputtoopentheDepthOutputdialog.
3Selectwhichporttouse.
4Fortheselectedport,clickSetuptodenethecommunicationparameters.
5Selectwhichtelegramtosend.
6Ifapplicable,denetheTalkerID.
7Selectwhichtransceiverandfrequencyyouwishtoexportthedepthinformation
from.
Inmostcases,thelowestfrequencyisused.
8ClickOKtosavethecurrentsettingsandclosethedialog.
