Usemountingandclampingringswheneverprovided
Circulartransducersmaybeprovidedwithmountingandclampingrings,orwith
drawingstoallowforlocalproductionofthese.Themountingringisweldedtothe
holepreparedforthetransducer,whiletheclampingringtsaroundtheedgeofthe
transducerbody.Boltsthroughtheclampingringintothemountingringwillsecurethe
transducerbetweenthem.Notethatseveraltransducersusedirectionguidestoallow
correctmounting.
Smoothsurfaceisimportant
Mountingscrewsorboltsmustnotbeextrudingfromthetransducerorthearea
immediatelyaroundit.Makesurethatthesurfaceofthetransducerface,theinstallation
hardwareusedtomountit,thehullplatingandtheputtyaroundthetransducerisas
evenandsmoothaspossible.Obstructionsonthesesurfaceswillcreateproblemswith
turbulentow.
Useahorizontalsupportbaronlargetransducers
Westronglyrecommendthatlargetransducersarettedwithahorizontalsupportbar.
Thepurposeofthissupportbaristoprotectthetransducerfromdamageintheeventof
slamming.Thishappensifthevesselhullclimbsoutofthewaterinheavyseas.The
forceofthewaterwhenthehullfallsdownmaypushthetransducerupandcausedamage
toitsmounting.Thesupportbarcanbesecuredtothemountingringusingthreadedrods.
Slammingistheimpactofthebottomstructureofashipontotheseasurface.It
ismainlyobservedwhilesailinginwaves,whenthebowraisesfromthewater
andsubsequentlyimpactsonit.Slamminginducesextremelyhighloadstoship
structuresandistakenunderconsiderationwhendesigningships.

Thiscanbeaccomplishedbyairreleasethroughasteeltube,whichisextendedeither
toopenair1.5mabovethewaterlineortothewateroutsidethehullatapointhigher
thanthetankinterior.
Ifthetubeisextendedtoopenair,drainagemustbeprovidedwithleakageatthe
transducerangeoraseparateholeinthetankbottom.
