Westronglyrecommendthatlargetransducersarettedwithahorizontalsupportbar.
Thepurposeofthissupportbaristoprotectthetransducerfromdamageintheeventof
slamming.Thishappensifthevesselhullclimbsoutofthewaterinheavyseas.The
forceofthewaterwhenthehullfallsdownmaypushthetransducerupandcausedamage
toitsmounting.Thesupportbarcanbesecuredtothemountingringusingthreadedrods.
Slammingistheimpactofthebottomstructureofashipontotheseasurface.It
ismainlyobservedwhilesailinginwaves,whenthebowraisesfromthewater
andsubsequentlyimpactsonit.Slamminginducesextremelyhighloadstoship
structuresandistakenunderconsiderationwhendesigningships.
