TransducerInstallation
Observethehorizontalandverticaldistances(CandD)betweenthekeelandthe
transducerblister.Onamediumsizedvessel,thehorizontaldistance(C)shouldbe
approximately1meter.Theverticaldistance(D)mustingeneralbeassmallaspossible.
Thisisimportanttopreventthekeelfromshadowingthetransducerbeaminshallow
waters.

Vesselswithaboxkeelmayusethisfortransducerinstallation.
Theboxkeelisalreadythedeepestpartofthevessel.Iftheboxkeelistoonarrowto
accommodatethetransducer,itcanbewidened,eithersymmetricallyortoonesideonly.
Inthelastcasetheinstallationcouldalsobedescribedasablistermergedintothekeel.
Usemountingandclampingringswheneverprovided
Circulartransducersmaybeprovidedwithmountingandclampingrings,orwith
drawingstoallowforlocalproductionofthese.Themountingringisweldedtothe
holepreparedforthetransducer,whiletheclampingringtsaroundtheedgeofthe
transducerbody.Boltsthroughtheclampingringintothemountingringwillsecurethe
transducerbetweenthem.Notethatseveraltransducersusedirectionguidestoallow
correctmounting.
Smoothsurfaceisimportant
Mountingscrewsorboltsmustnotbeextrudingfromthetransducerorthearea
immediatelyaroundit.Makesurethatthesurfaceofthetransducerface,theinstallation
hardwareusedtomountit,thehullplatingandtheputtyaroundthetransducerisas
evenandsmoothaspossible.Obstructionsonthesesurfaceswillcreateproblemswith
turbulentow.
