Replacing the Power Supply
in a Freeway 1300
The Freeway 1300 has optional dual independent hot-swappable power supplies with
separate AC feeds, designed to be easily replaced in the field. An audible alarm indicates
a power supply failure. The red power supply FAULT LED illuminated on the rear of the
Freeway shows which supply has failed (see Figure 2–4 on page 37).
To replace one of the power supplies while the system remains up, use the following
procedure:
1. Slip the anti-static strap around your wrist and attach the alligator clip to any bare
metal area of the Freeway cabinet.
2. On the power supply to be replaced, turn the power switch off, then unplug the
power cord.
3. Loosen the four Phillips screws in the outer corners of the power supply, then
remove the power supply completely from the cabinet.
Note
Do not pull the power supply part way out, then reinsert it.
Doing so may damage the power supply because the stored energy
will not have had time to dissipate completely.
