   WARNING – RISK OF INJURY!
► people suffering from skin cancer or who have suffered
from skin cancer or who have a predisposition for this,
► people with a direct relation (first degree) who has al-
ready been diagnosed with a melanoma (skin cancer),
► people who are receiving medical treatment for a light
sensitivity illness,
► people who cannot tan at all or cannot tan without burn-
ing when exposed to the sun,
► people who burn easily when exposed to the sun,
 ► pregnant women.
 ■ The radiation should not exceed the minimal erythema
dose (MED). If erythema (redness of the skin) appears in
the hours following exposure to the radiation, stop using
the appliance. The next treatment may not be made until at
least one week from the time the erythema occurred.
 ■ If unexpected side-effects, such as itching, appear within 48
of the first use of the UV appliance, consult a doctor before
further exposure to UV radiation.
 ■ The UV appliance may not be used if the timer does not
work correctly.
 ■ UV rays from the sun or from UV appliances can cause skin
or eye damage that may be irreversible. The biological ef-
fects depend on the quality and quantity of the radiation as
well as the eye/skin sensitivity of the individual.
 ■ Excessive exposure can cause sunburn. Too-frequent exposure
to the sun or UV appliances can cause premature ageing and
increase the risk of skin cancer. This risk increases with in-
creasing cumulative UV exposure. UV radiation at a young
age increases the risk of later skin cancer.
