6.2 Effect of Plastic and Metal Materials
The antenna on BGM113 is fairly robust to the proximity of plastic and other low dielectric constant materials, but placing plastic or any
other dielectric material in direct contact with the antenna should be avoided. A minimum separation of 5 mm should be maintained
between a plastic material and the antenna on the top side and end of the module to prevent dielectric loading of the antenna, but
materials can be placed against the bottom of the application PCB. The PCB thickness should be 1 - 2 mm.
Any metallic objects in close proximity to the antenna will prevent the antenna from radiating freely. The minimum recommended dis-
tance of metallic and/or conductive objects is 10 mm in any direction from the antenna except in the directions of the application PCB
ground planes.
