OPERATION
THERMOSTATIC CONTROL OPERATION
The thermostat used on this heater senses the room
temperature. At times the room may exceed the set
temperature. If so, the burner will shut o󰀨. The burner will
cycle back on when room temperature drops below the set
temperature. The control knob can be set to any comfort level
between “HIGH” (5) and “LOW”(1) (see Fig. 17).
INSPECTING BURNERS
Check pilot ame pattern daily when in use and at least
yearly by a qualied service agency.
PILOT FLAME PATTERN
Fig. 18 shows a correct pilot ame pattern. Fig. 19 shows an
incorrect pilot ame pattern. The incorrect pilot ame is not
touching the thermocouple. This will cause the thermocouple
to cool, which shuts the heater o󰀨. If pilot ame pattern is
incorrect: turn heater o󰀨
(see “To Turn O󰀨 Gas to Appliance” on page 20)
(see Troubleshooting pages 24 through 26.)

WARNING: If yellow tipping occurs, your heater could produce increased levels of
carbon monoxide. If burner ame shows yellow tipping, follow instructions under
“Burner Flame Pattern” on page 20.
Notice: Do not mistake orange ames with yellow tipping. Dirt or other ne particles
enter the heater and burn causing brief patches of orange ame.
BURNER FLAME PATTERN
Fig. 20 (blue ame) or Fig. 22 (infrared) shows a correct burner ame and Infrared ame pattern.
Fig. 21 (blue ame) or Fig. 23 (infrared) shows an incorrect burner ame pattern with lifting, and
excessive ame height. If burner ame is incorrect:
1. Turn heater o󰀨 (see “To Turn O󰀨 Gas to Appliance” on page 20).
2. See “Troubleshooting” on pages 24 through 26.
