used to identify the group. A SNMP device or agent may belong to more than one
SNMP community. It will not respond to requests from management stations that do
not belong to one of its communities. SNMP default communities are:
Write = private
Read = public
2.1.2.2 SNMP Configuration
1. SNMP Agent Status Configuration
First turn on SNMP Agent.
Enabled / Disabled: To turn on or turn off the SNMP function on the Switch.

2. System Options
Used to define a logical name to the switch, the location of the switch, and contact
person for administration of the switch. This information is used in Enterprise SNMP
management, where the network can be very widespread, potentially even in other
countries. To know where the unit is physically located, and who to contact in the
event of a problem is critical.
In “system options” table configuration consists of three key components:
System Name: Enter a name to be used for the switch.
System Location: Enter the location of the switch. For example enter
“TONGMEI17F”
Contact: Enter the name of the person or organization that maintains the switch.
For example enter “Test”
After complete hereinbefore three steps click “ok”.

3. Community Configuration
Use this table to create an SNMP community string to define the relationship between
the SNMP manager and an agent. The community string acts like a password to
permit access to the agent on the Switch. One or more of the following characteristics
can be associated with the community string:
