Hybrid Modes
Hybridmodesaresupportedmainlyforlegacyimplementa‐
tions.Someprevioushybridmodes(MD=5,6)arenolonger
implementedasspecial,uniquemodes.NowthatUDPauto
answer(UDPHalf‐open,S82=2)canbeenabledinconjunction
withUDPPADmode(MD3),effectivelythisisthesameas
MD5andMD6previouslyaccomplished.SettingMD5and
MD6arestill
supported,butnotrecommended.
Data Communication
Note: The Raven XT forwards
messages to and from the
cellular network for only ONE
device per port. The Raven XT is
a one-to-one gateway and does
not have advanced routing
features required to do one-to-
many routing.
TheprimarypurposeoftheRavenXTistoforwarddatafrom
asingledeviceconnectedtooneoftheportstothecellular
networkand,ultimately,undermostcircumstances,tothe
Internetinaone‐to‐onegatewayconfiguration.
WhentheRavenXTobtainsitsIPaddressfromyourcellular
provider,italsoobtainsthenetworkroutinginformation
necessarytoforwardmessagestotheirrouterswhichcanthen
forwardonfromthere.TheRavenXTthenactsasarouterfor
thedeviceconnectedtoit,forwardingtoorfrom
thecellular
network.
Note: If you have a device connected to he serial port and the USB
port, they will not be able to communicate to each other. Each port is
routed separately to the cellular network with one-to-one routing for
each.
Public and Private Mode
InPublicMode,theRavenXTwillpasstheIPaddress
assignedbythecellularnetworktothedeviceconnectedtoits
port.PublicModeisthedefaultmodefortheRavenXT.
