Connecting to a Computer or Other
Device
The AirLink GX440 can be connected to a computer through an Ethernet, serial,
or USB connection.
Ethernet
Figure 3-5: Ethernet cable connector
The Ethernet port is a standard RJ-45 connector, and the two Ethernet LEDs
indicate linkage and activity. The left LED blinks yellow during activity, and the
right LED displays green for 100 Mbps and orange for 10 Mbps. The Ethernet port
of the AirLink GX440 can be connected directly to a computer or other Ethernet
device with either a cross-over cable or a straight-through cable. The Ethernet
port on the AirLink GX440 is auto-sensing, and it will auto-detect the speed of the
connecting device for 100baseTX or 10baseT.
Serial Port
Figure 3-6: Serial cable connector
The serial port of your AirLink GX440 can be connected directly to most
computers or other devices using a standard straight through cable. If you have a
DCE device, you will need a null device or null device cable. All local GPS (UDP
encapsulated) reports will come over the Ethernet connection. The serial port is
available for both initial product configurations and debugging.
