Summarization – The Way Out of
the Information Glut
The purpose of TMP-Scan is not mere “categorization” but generation of an
intelligence summary of documents or batches of documents. This summary
includes:
• Characterization and prioritization of the document.
• Analyses of the significance of religious terms with terrorist ramifications.
• Identification of known persons, organizations and groups which appear in
the document., including relevant information on those entities.
• Phone numbers, addresses and place references.
• Information implicit in the document and deduced from explicit concepts.
TMP-Scan currently analyses documents with Islamic content, however future
modules will be able to deal with additional domains. TMP-Scan supports various
digital input formats as well as hard copies, which first must be scanned and
processed by an external OCR (Optical Character Recognition) software. The
TMPScan technology has succeeded in reducing the processing time of a single
document, so a document of tens of pages is currently processed and
summarized within seconds. The processing time varies according to the
capability of the computer that TMP-Scan runs on.
