Installing applications
An application you want to install
must be suitable for the Symbian op-
erating system. Application packag-
es are normally compressed files
which contain several component
files.
You can get installation packages via
• Bluetooth™, Infrared from a com-
puter or phone.
• multimedia message or as an
e-mail attachment.
• download during a WAP session.
Select the required installation
package.
Press the joystick to start installation.
During installation, the phone
checks the integrity of the applica-
tion package to be installed. Infor-
mation about the checks are dis-
played, with the option to cancel the
installation.
Removing applications
Select the application:
C KSetupKManager
KOptionsKRemove
Yes Press to confirm.
Manager options
View details, View certificate, Manager,
Remove, View log, Send log, Exit.
Most relevant functions:
View log
See what application packages have
been installed or removed and
when.
Viewing memory consumption
In the ManagerKOptions view, you
can see the memory consumption
of:
Calendar, Contacts, Documents, Mes-
sages, Images, Sound files, Video clips,
Java apps., Mem. in use, Free memory.
If memory is getting low, remove
some files or applications.
Note
Before you install an update for an existing
application, be sure that you have a backup
or the original software package. Otherwise
you cannot restore the original application.
Before restoring the original, remove the in-
stalled application.
Note
The phone warns you when installing soft-
ware without digital signature or certificate.
Continue only if you are sure of the origin
and the contents of the software package.
Note
Before removing software, make sure that
• no other application is dependent on it,
• no documents need it to work with.
