B.3 Fundamental measures to protect against static
discharge
Make sure the grounding is good
Make sure all persons, workplaces and packaging are sufficiently grounded when
ESD components are being handled. In this manner you avoid static discharge.
Avoid direct contact
You should only touch ESD components if this is unavoidable (for example,
during maintenance work). Hold the modules so that you touch neither pins nor
printed conductors. In this manner, the discharge energy cannot reach or damage
sensitive devices.
If you have to carry out measurements on a module, discharge yourself before
carrying out any actions. Do so by touching grounded metallic parts. Only use
grounded measuring instruments.
