Classification for aspirating smoke detection EN54-20
Class Description Example application(s)
A
Aspirating smoke
detector providing very
high sensitivity
Very early detection:
The detection of very dilute smoke for example entering air
conditioning ducts to detect the extremely dilute concentrations
of smoke that might emanate from equipment in the environment
controllers area such as a clear room.
B
Aspirating smoke
detector providing
enhanced sensitivity
Early detection:
For example special fire detection or close to particulary valu-
able, vulnerable or critical items such as computer or electronic
equipment cabinets
C
Aspirating smoke
detector providing
normal sensitivity
Standard detection:
General fire detection in normal rooms or spaces, giving, for
example, at least an equivalent level of detection as a point or
beam type smoke detection system
