5.5.6 Placing of the RFID readers and tags

Type of reader or tag

RF reader The reader supports large tag populations at read-distances up to

20m/65ft radius (360° coverage). Install the reader on the ceiling:

flush mounted into false dropped ceilings or on solid ceilings

surface mounted by using the surface mounting ring (option)

LF reader Install the reader at entrances, interior or exterior doorways, gates

and other limited access chokepoints either on wall (preferred

position) or on the ceiling

IR reader (optionally) Install the reader on the ceiling: flush mounted into false dropped

ceilings or on solid ceilings surface mounted by using the surface

mounting ring (option)

Staff tag (Active Identity

Badge)

To be worn by the personnel.

Asset tag Screw or fix the asset tag to valuable goods or equipment. For fix

mounting remove the protective layer from the double-sided

adhesive on the back of the mounting bracket.

Tags on Laptop Computers: the tag should be positioned on the

top right corner of the laptop lid. If the tag is attached towards the

center of the lid, the RF performance will be significantly de-

graded, reducing the detection range of the tag.

Asset tag can also be alternatively used as a staff tag. Belt and

pendant mounting clips are therefore needed (option).
