4.5 Management Station
The Siemens Danger Management Station (DMS) allows central monitoring and
control of fire safety and security installations. It can be configured for local as well
as for remote facilities. It is the solution for the integration of diverse subsystem like
fire, access control, intrusion and CCTV. In addition, it can easily exchange infor-
mation with Siemens building automation management station Desigo or 3
rd
party
management station.
Primary users of the system are security guards and members of the fire brigade
responsible for monitoring and managing the facilities. Other users will be the shift
managers who are responsible for performing site maintenance, investigating
event histories, and creating analytical reports based on the recorded historical
data.
4.5.1 MM8000 Management Station
The system is based on two software packages:
– MM8000
– MK8000 OPC Server
and two hardware components:
– MT8001
– NK8000
The MM8000 provides integrated management and handling, decentralized system
operation and centralized maintenance.
The MK8000 OPC Server provides open system solutions to our customers, ena-
bling our subsystems to be integrated into 3
rd
party management systems. The ob-
jective is to offer the OPC Data Access (DA) Server product in parallel with com-
plete offerings including our MM8000 management station software. The OPC DA
Server product allows the Management Station to technically integrate FS subsys-
tems into building automation unit head-ends, thereby supporting the BT Total
Building Solutions offering.
The MT8001 Management Terminal provides a common user interface to Fire and
Intrusion subsystems of different generations. It provides control functionality at the
most convenient location for personnel trusted with the responsibility of reacting to
security events. These people may be security guards, but more commonly, they
may also be receptionists, concierges, janitors, or general technical service per-
sonnel.
NK8000 connects various subsystems over TCP/IP Ethernet or BACnet/IP to the
management station MM8000. The NK822x Ethernet Ports are used to connect lo-
cal and distributed safety and security devices to the NK8000 network. The
NK822x port provides a first level of centralization, and acts as a secure communi-
cation partner for management station. Additionally, the NK8223 / NK8225 can be
serially connected to a local management station.
