4.3.3 Evacuation
4.3.3.1 Visual, sirens and alarm horns
As soon a visual, siren or horn is activated the people inside the building have to
evacuate it including the archives and libraries.
4.3.3.2 Voice evacuation
In case of fire, people receive clearly voice information how to evacuate the ar-
chives, libraries and the building.
The E-100 activates the evacuation in automatic or manual function.
Automatic system functions:
– Evacuation
The system can broadcast an evacuation signal to selected speaker groups or
to all speaker groups in response to an alarm from the fire alarm system.
– Warning
The system can broadcast an alert signal to coincide with an evacuation sig-
nal; the evacuation signal will be broadcast in a specific area of the building
while the alert signal will be broadcast in the other areas.
– Controllers
In addition to broadcasting evacuation and alert signals, the system can si-
multaneously activate fire controllers and a visual escape route in response to
an alarm from the fire alarm system.
Manual system functions
Automatic operation can be interrupted at any time if the situation calls for it, for
example in order to broadcast an emergency page or other speaker pages or to
terminate automatic operation.
Manual functions refer to manual activation of
– emergency page
– evacuation signal
– alert signal
– convenience page
– background music for elected areas
4.3.3.3 Escape route
Escape routes are indicated by specific signal using pictographic showing a fleeing
person. These signs have the task to indicate and facilitate the escape route. Es-
cape route guidance are illuminate symbols arranged in short interval that even in
case of smoke it is possible to have visibility to the next sign.
