4.2.3.2 Room monitoring with aspirating smoke detector
If the goods in archive are extremely valuable and irreplaceable, a very early de-
tection of a fire in the room is required. Aspirating smoke detection is the most
suitable solution for faster introduction of countermeasures to limit damage.
This solution is also suitable when the detectors are very difficult to reach (e.g. for
maintenance) or very high shelves reaching almost the ceiling are installed in the
archive room. The pipe network assures a simple installation and avoids the prob-
lematic described above.

4.2.3.3 Room monitoring and extinguishing
More the assets are valuable and more it is paramount to detect and extinguishing
the fire as early as possible. For this reasons different combinations of fire detec-
tion are possible in order to activate an extinguishing system:
– Point Fire Detection (cross-zoning or multi-detectors zone)
– Air sampling detection (smoke level for alarm and confirmation)
– Air sampling detection (alarm) and point fire detector (confirmation)
– Double air sampling detection (cross-zoning)
